OUR DISNEY WORLD TRIP

The most magical place on earth!

I won’t lie, I was a little bit of a Disney adult hater. But after experiencing the magic of Disney World for myself? Ya girl has totally switched sides. I 100% understand all of the hype around going to Magic Kingdom now — even as an adult it is SO much fun.

As a millennial (94 baby here!), it felt like everything was from MY childhood. It took me back to the magical feeling of pushing the VHS tape in and hearing the magic melody of a Disney movie starting!

SO - I want to cover everything from our most recent trip to Disney for anyone who wants all the deets! In my blog post I will go over:

  • where we stayed

  • what parks we visited

  • what foods we ate

  • rides we rode

  • tips/tricks/items that came in handy

  • & of course the Vacation/Disney OOTD’s 😉

Hopefully sharing my experience in this blog post will help you with your future trip to Disney World! 🏰✨

WHERE WE STAYED

Since we were visiting Disney World in Florida — We stayed in Kissimmee at Delta Hotels by Marriott Orlando Celebration.

The resort was a 5 minute drive to Magic Kingdom, 8 minutes to Epcot and we were only minutes from any stores/restaurants we would need on a short quick trip! We were also able to see the fireworks from the parks from inside our hotel room.

The hotel is a resort and does include a resort fee (~$28 per day on top of hotel cost) and if you have a rental car, you will have to pay almost $50 in parking fees each day (we did not know this so there was a surprise $100 we weren’t expecting!). While I do wish they would just include parking and resort fees in initial booking/payment, it was still a pretty good deal considering how close we were to Disney World parks. Even with the additional costs, we would absolutely stay here again!

The resort was GORGEOUS. It had two huge pools — one pool with a large waterslide and with a water fall you can swim under — and another heated pool behind! In between the two pools was no shortage of lounge chairs, a turfed giant couch relaxing area and fully serviced (drinks + food) tiki bar! The staff also walked around taking drink and food orders!

The resort also had a nice sized gym that also had an outdoor section overseeing the pool. There was also gorgeous koi fish ponds throughout the resort. Inside the main lobby was a bar and lounge area as well as a full service Starbucks! When we arrived to check in, we both got a complimentary $25 drink/food vouchers which we used at the tiki bar night one and used again at Starbucks upon check out before heading to Epcot! We will absolutely return to this resort! Below you can find their website to book your next trip & their Instagram!

Night One - Arrival

The first night - we spent a few hours poolside enjoying and exploring our hotel and complimentary cocktails! Afterwards, we opted to try a local restaurant! We opted to try out Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar in Orlando, FL! I don’t think we could have picked a better dinner spot!

It was definitely amazing food and such a cool experience! We ordered Chips & Guacamole as an appetizer which I HIGHLY recommend doing because they make the guac fresh for you AT your table in a giant guac bowl! It was such a cool experience to watch our guac be freshly made right in front of us! They also ask your preferences as they make the guac as well!

I got the crispy fish tacos which were 3 fried mahi mahi tacos topped with cabbage and chipotle aioli slaw mix, pico de gallo and cilantro. 10/10! They are huge though, so don’t fill up too much on chips! 😉

Jake got the birria tacos that are a chili brisket with pickled onions in corn tortillas with caldo “broth” to dip them in! Seeing as he inhaled them in .25 seconds and didn’t leave a single crumb, I would say he would also rate a 10/10!

MAGIC KINGDOM DAY

We rode the ferry ride to Magic Kingdom which was such a great start to the magical experience! It was so much fun slowly approaching the castle and listening to all the nostalgic songs! There is also a fast tram ride you can take (which was nice because it was so quick!) which we did when we were leaving for the day.

The parking is $30 per day so keep that in mind when planning for your trip! Depending on your trip and budget, it can be worth staying at a Disney Resort! This way, you can get direct access to the park (usually has trams that run from your hotel to the park!) and you can even get early access into the park itself! Going forward, we will use a Disney travel agent like Savannah Huff – @saveverafter – she is great, she is a Disney world PRO and it doesn’t cost us anything for her to plan everything for us. All we have to do is show up!

I have personally never been to Disney World so my first time as a 29 year old was pretty amazing to say the least. My husband went when we was about 13 but did not remember one single thing about his trip (his eldest sister was 18 at the time and she said she also doesn’t remember much!) so it was nice because it felt like we were experiencing it for the first time together! This is probably one of the only times I will say this but.. Yay for my husband’s terrible memory, LOL! We rode and ate so much (which I will break down shortly!) but one of my favorite parts was all the parades and mini shows at the front of the castle throughout the day! There were several shows and parades, so don’t worry if you miss one! Just make sure you don’t miss the main parade at 3pm! Everything is all in your Disney Experience app (download here!) under “Rides, Shows & Lightning Lane Entry” so you can check to see times for parades + wait times for lines!

What we ate:

  • Starbucks: We started off the park day at Starbucks to grab some coffee. I got the Iced Hazelnut Oatmilk Shaken Espresso which is my go-to order at starbies! My husband usually snags a Strawberry Refresher.

  • Sleepy Hollow: We had to get some breakfast so headed to Sleepy Hollow! I highly suggest ordering food that you can ahead of time that way by the time you walk to your food spot, you can just pick it up and find a spot to eat! We both got the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich and it was SO YUMMY. It was very rich with the hazelnut spread and it is very large so we could have split this!

  • Mickey Mouse Pretzel: After a few rides I had a Mickey Mouse pretzel from one of the little mobile carts and it was delicious!

  • Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe: Jake had the Taco Trio from Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe and for lunch. He really enjoyed it!

  • Casey’s Corner: For lunch I had a Chicago style hot dog on a regular beef hot dog instead of plant based option. You can order it how you like, they are super accommodating!

  • Aloha Isle: We both ended our day with a sweet little treat! We both had an ice cream towards the end of the day from Aloha Isle, I got the Dole whip and Jake got a regular vanilla soft serve!

We ended up getting SO tired so we didn’t eat dinner and we actually headed back to our hotel early and ate at an applebees next to our hotel! My biggest regret is not staying for dinner + fireworks at Magic Kingdom!

Rides and Shows we did:

First, I will say that spending $35 on Genie + for 3 lightning lane passes per person ($35 per person) is ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! If you are able to do this, please do it. You will save yourself hours of standing in line if you are strategic about which rides to use it for and times of day!

These are the rides we rode during our trip to Magic Kingdom:

  • Adventure friends Cavalcade Parade

  • It’s a small world

  • Tom Sawyer Island

  • Prince charming regal carousel

  • Liberty Square Riverboat

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

  • Festival of Fantasy Parade

  • Mad Tea Party

  • Enchanted Tiki Room

  • Magic Carpets of Aladdin

  • Monsters inc Laugh Floor

  • Pirates of the caribbean

  • Tomorrowland Transit people mover

  • Monsters inc Laugh Floor

  • Tron Lightcycle (this is a ride you NEED to sign up for at 6:35-6:40am!! If you aren’t able to get into this time slot, make sure you sign up at 12:35-12:40!! They will say 7am and 1pm but they start sign up for Tron + Guardians 20 minutes prior and they get completely booked out!)

Magic Kingdom day was SO much fun and you can definitely accomplish it all in one day, maybe not all the rides but a huge majority! We really wanted to ride the following rides but they were either down or the lines were too long and we had used up our Lightning lanes!

  • Haunted Mansion

  • Space Mountain

  • Jungle Cruise

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

There was so much to see and explore around the whole park and we truly enjoyed our day so much. I won’t swamp you with every single photo from my camera roll that day but here are a few highlights from the trip!

truly the best day ever!

We had the best day ever. I understand all the hype around Disney now! It was so much fun and even as we were leaving as tired and exhausted as we were, we could not wait to go back!

EPCOT DAY

Our second and our last day was spent at the Epcot park. Our day was cut a little short due to the fact that we also were flying home. We only had from 9:30am-6pm at Epcot so we were not able to ride/see/do everything we had wanted but we definitely still did A LOT! We ended up getting there 30 minutes later than expected because we weren’t paying attention to the traffic signs, we got turned around and ended up driving to the wrong park LOL. So we got there around 9:30!

Epcot was probably the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Their use of all the garden + botanicals was extraordinary! I felt like I myself was a Disney princess walking through a magical garden throughout the entire park! I was in awe the entire time I was there and I am pretty sure I said the words “This is so beautiful” about 1,000 times!

Epcot stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. All over the park was a great use of natural resources and it was beautiful the thoughtfulness that went into everything there. Epcot is most known for having 11 countries for an “around the world” experience. You have Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, United Stated, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom and Canada. Each country had it’s own little section and it was SO COOL to see each country relating to different Disney movies, but also in general being able to experience so many different cultures, food, drinks and ways of living all in one place! I couldn’t possibly pick which country was my favorite because I loved them all!

The first thing we actually did was go to the customer service desk because my Disney Experience app was malfunctioning and we needed assistance! This isn’t a normal issue, the two days we had gone they were in the process of changing/updating their systems across the parks. After that we started our day!

What we ate:

  • Sunshine Seasons: We started off breakfast at sunshine seasons, we both enjoyed a ham, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich. The restaurant was also very accommodating when I asked for no cheese. They had a small station with mustard + mayo packets. After breakfast since it was in the same space, we hopped on Living with the Land ride!

  • Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria: Breakfast held us off for a bit, but we definitely were so torn on what to have for lunch but we ended up eating at Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria in Italy! This restaraunt you normally need a reservation for (which you can do i your Disney Experience app) but it only ended up being a 15 minute wait time when we got there! We both got personal pizzas that was AMAZING. Everything was so fresh and delicious! Best pizza ever!

  • Starbucks: We got some frappuccinos from Starbucks towards the end of the day to cool off and kick up our feet inside! We ate dinner at the airport that night because we had to leave early for our flight!

I didn’t end up getting any photos of what we ate or rode, but I took tons of photos throughout the park! Here are some moments from our trip!

Rides and Shows we did:

We didn’t buy the genie + for EPCOT and I wish we had so we could have rode more rides during our day!

These are the rides we rode during our trip to Epcot:

  • Living with the Land

  • Walked through the butterfly conservatory

  • Spaceship Earth

  • Gran Fiesta Tour

  • Journey Into Imagination

  • Moana Journey of Water

  • The Seas with nemo & Friends

  • Guardians of The Galaxy (this is a ride you NEED to sign up for at 6:35-6:40am!! If you aren’t able to get into this time slot, make sure you sign up at 12:35-12:40!! They will say 7am and 1pm but they start sign up for Tron + Guardians 20 minutes prior and they get completely booked out!)

I will say out of every single ride on both days, Guardians of the Galaxy is hands down the BEST rollercoaster I have ever ever been on! We spent most of our time walking around and exploring parts of each country in Epcot! Between both days we actually ended up walking 27 miles so make sure you bring very comfortable walking shoes!

Below are some of the photos we took throughout the day, I didn’t get many food photos or even many pictures of us, just tons of pictures of scenery!

wrapping up the trip

If you have ever wondered what the hype around Disney World was… it truly is the most MAGICAL PLACE EVER! I’m so bummed that we only did two days, we really wish we would have done the 3-day park pass and had one more day at our hotel resort! We will definitely be back to Disney World ASAP!
